100 Hearts for Hope
|
My name is Ellen and I have been an artist in heart & soul since I was born.
Always looking at the world thru creative & loving eyes, has kept my life interesting.
|
I am in the "Wise-Woman" years of my life. My givashit factor has gone out the
window & my creative processes have gone from a steady creek to a constant river.
From imagening all the different ideas over the years, I have lost the fear of others
opinions and have finally let all those wonderful ideas flow thru my fingers &
into my cuttings & paintings. Isn't life grand!

Last year I joined the Guild of American Papercutters (GAP). I enjoyed their
magazines & seeing all the spectacular work of all the artists. This year one of
the members put a call out for cuttings for a fundraiser she has done for several
years for St. Jude's Hospital - 100 Hearts for Hope. I made the huge commitment
(at least for me) to donate a heart to be auctioned. Oh my....talk about putting
yourself out there! Well it worked out well. The bidding for 7 days was furious
and I am proud to say that the original piece & the cards generated a large donation
to St. Jude's Hospital.

My husband's job has taken him around the country for the last 9 years.
Just last February I joined him on the road in our 5th Wheel RV. The best thing
about being an artist is that it is with me no matter where I go. Thank heaven
for computers, the internet & cell phones. They keep me in touch with my family
and offer me the opportunity to meet other artists and to show & sell my work.

My pieces vary from colorful to simple designs. I go wherever my visions take me.
From the beginning idea to the final image the final design is always a delightful surprise.
|
Many of my ideas come from nature. We love to backpacking and canoeing and I have
many photos to use for inspiration. I love the Pennsylvania Dutch Designs.
My husband's father's family is Pennsylvania Dutch from Amish country, PA.
|
So enjoy my work. It is filled with love & joy.
