Nancy Lenore Cook has been creating sculptures from paper since she was 3 years old.
Her grandmother folded some paper (the kind that oranges and grapefruit were wrapped in years ago)
and had her cut holes. When she opened it, it was magic. She has been cutting ever since.
Since she thinks in 3 dimensions, paper sculpture was a natural way for her to create art.
She has an Art Education background, and has had her own studio for 26 years.
Nancy is a Juried Member of the Penn. Guild Of Craftsmen, and has won
several awards in their Annual Gallery Show at Franklin and Marshall College. In 1995,
she won Juror’s Choice Award for a piece “Chesapeake”. It was also included in the River
Life Exhibit at the State Capitol in Harrisburg, Penn. ”Beauty Is In The Eye Of The Beholder”
won an award in 1991, in the Annual Gallery Show.

and had her entry on exhibit at the Art Directors Club in New York. One of her recent
compositions,”The Awakening” was published in IRIS Magazine, University Of Virginia, in an
article on “Women and The Art Of Paper Cutting”. Her work is also included in the book
PAPER ART by Diane Maurer- Mathison . THE ART OF THE SCRAPBOOK, by Diane Maurer-Mathison,
includes an accordion – fold, Pop-Up book of Nancy’s…”Butterfly Meadow”.
