Joseph Thomas Budziak - born Calumet, Michigan (approximatly 1900 - he was older than his wife). He changed his name to Budd-Jack since polish names were not well received in the 30s for his line of work.

He left the Michigan upper peninsula and joined the circus where he met his wife Maria (Mary) when the circus was in town near her house in Detroit. They married in 1926.
